I understand in India food prices are so low that farmers commit suicide all the time. They are not paid a fair price for their commodities and can never get out from their debts. Suicide is a way to protect their families.
But I understand what you mean. Most of us in the West conusme way more than we need, and even way more than will make us happy. We end up owning so many things that our things end up owning us. Traveling is a great way to see this up close, to see that there really is another way to live. Many people adopt voluntary simplicity as a way to enhance the quality of their lifes as a result.
