The RAS does help you notice what you are seeking, but it does not explain why someone might call you out of the blue with news about something you desire, or the email , or someone asking you to come pick them up and you have to drive right by something you've been unable to find....ect......
It just doesn't account for the universes active response to your intention.
Actually the RAS is busy all the time keeping your perception of experiences congruent, to provide continuity to your life. A lot of us think we have an "anything is possible" belief system but really don't, or we would experience a wider range of events.
I just noticed this thread is on it's second resurrection from 2006, there is a sticky thread "How it work's? opinions" at the top of the manifesting forum page that has a few ideas in it.
