Based on my limited experience, I have to disagree with their theory. The Hemi-Sync program I am using has binaural beats along with voice and sometimes other sounds, and it seems to work very well. I have done Transcendental Meditation for many years and have occasionally managed to get into some very deep states of relaxation. Using the Hemi-Sync program I have been able to do this consistently from the very first time I used it.
I was a bit reluctant to use this type of program to begin with because I would rather not have to rely on external tools. However, once I started using the Gateway Experience program I found out it is designed to train you so that eventually you can do it without listening to the CDs. When you first start the program you are led through exercises that slowly take you into a deep state of meditation. Later on, you learn techniques that can take you instantly to that state.
There are quite possibly other programs out there that do the same thing. All I know is this one seems to work for me.
