I thinik it might be helpful here if you could tell us the reasoning behind your rich relative's action.
For example:
- You asked him for the money.
- He's diagnosed with a terminal disease.
- He feels sorry for you.
- He wants you to write a book about him.
- etc.
I have rich relatives, too, and while they may buy me dinner or allow me to stay in their vacation home, no one has ever given me anything over a few hundred bucks - and that's been extremely rare too.
More details would make your story more inspiring - because it would be more believable.
