I'm starting to think "gifted" simply implies you were lucky enough to grow up with these skills highly active, and had the right beliefs engrained in you somehow, on some level. So people who are 'gifted', simply are more in tune with certain abilities naturally than others, which is pretty much a gift these days.
Everyone has the potential to develop this, since it's natural. It's just as a society that we've forgotten and pretty much atrophied these abilities. How do you think people communicated, sensed danger, healed each other, performed miracles, etc, before language and civilization?
