FellowTraveler: What you are doing is valuable. But note that all of these things - ideas, dreams, intention - are all of the construct, the mind. While you are getting to know the construct more deeply, you are playing in the illusion.
Somewhere in your practice, you want something to connect with who you are, the silence within. Be that inquiry or meditation or whatever practice through which you find silence. Also note that you cannot try to meditate. That is not true meditation. Same with any other practice. The only reason trying will bring you to silence is in exhausting the mind. It can be easier.
The inner journey is a path of allowing, of opening to what is. Any trying means you have fallen back into mind.
