Stay at home wife/mom - moocher or contributor
When I read that post a few days ago, I was also struck with the question of what about stay at home mom/wives of men who work. The wives don’t earn a wage per say doing what they do – but by raising a full set of children and running a household, they provide a lot of value to their husband. In turn their husband provide the wives with part of his income. In a way, it's a social contract and I think in the ancient days, that was explicitly understood.
So if I read the article right and understand the concept correctly, whether a stay-at-home mom/wife is a moocher or contributor depends on her own attitude – whether she is going out to try to create as much value/good for her husband and family with a state of mind of “Giving as much as possible to my family”, or whether she is just going by doing the minimum required to keep things and her mentality of state of mind is “getting as much as possible from the family while giving as little as possible.”
Am I correct or wrong?
