It's great that you are taking steps towards change.
There is nothing wrong with hating the career that allows a lavish lifestyle.
Maybe the resistance lies in the fact that you are not giving yourself permission to fully design a life that suits you, because you feel you are being indulgent and selfish.
You seem to feel you have the sole responsibility of making your family happy through your earning potential, have you discussed your goal with them? Maybe what they will lack in possessions, they will get in the satisfaction of seeing you happy and fulfilled.
Assuming you know what your real career is, I would suggest to find someone who already works in your dream field and have a casual talk with her/him.
It could involve sending a letter to someone you don't know, telling them of your desire to change careers.
It's not so much about networking and finding a mentor as it is to have a complete stranger mirroring your intention and dream back to you.
If you get to meet that person, you will get to see the person living the reality of your dream.
In turn, it will make your dream exist in your reality.
You will be rubbing energies with a person who lives your dream life, whether it's in the form of a phone call, letter or meeting.
This energy will positively aspect your progress towards your goal.Not only that, but the person you will talk to, or write to, will consider the achievement of your goal as a possibility.
Successful people have a tendency to be encouraging, because they have made it. The fact that they take the time to listen to you, read your letter, meeting with you, means that they see your goal as achievable.
This small victory might kick start a chain of positive events that will get you closer and closer.
