"There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so" - Shakespeare

Regarding the aforementioned quote, I wonder whether a slave would agree with Shakespeare, that his situation (circumstances) isn't bad, but that thinking makes it so.

All the best ellie
Steven.

Regarding the Shakespeare quote, I agree with it. But for it to make sense for a slave, I think we need to understand it on a deeper level. The key here in my opinion is to accept what already exists. If you are a slave there is little help in cursing and resisting the current situation. If you happen to be a slave, my advice would be to accept what already is, you can still look for ways to get out of the situation. Metaphorically speaking, if you are already stuck in a pile of mud, instead of cursing and resisting the fact that you are stuck, either accept the situation or do you best ot change it. Making the sitation into a problem or making it a bad or good situation doesn't help much.

I hope you understand my point
