In the following text, I am going to present you with an
ancient alchemical formula synthesized for the benefit of contemporary readers who find Scriptural Texts a bit daunting to comprehend. This synthesis will be achieved using a modern map of consciousness, which I find very useful for such purposes. It is the Eight-Circuit Neurological Model of Consciousness initially developed by Timothy Leary, and elaborated upon by Robert Anton Wilson in his perennial classic
'Prometheus Rising'. Readers are urged to acquaint themselves with the model presented therein: it refers to the different parts of human consciousness as
'Circuits' activated during one's life. Also referred to along the way will be teachings of other Wise Men, who have synthesized this knowledge and presented it in their own language - including G.I. Gurdjieff (an Armenian mystic who brought Sufi teachings to the West), and David R. Hawkins (contemporary spiritual master).
The Evolution of Consciousness Circuit I: Oral Bio-Survival The Fool is born. This is the state of exploded ('enlightened') consciousness but is soon impinged upon by the immediate environment. The Mother God Archetype is sought after, and the closest mothering object is imprinted as such. Consciousness is one-dimensional at this stage, comprising basic Advance-Retreat. Those imprinted heavily at this level grow up to be fat, sensitive, and fear-ridden. Sugary foods and drinks are much loved at this level. This is the Freudian Id. Gurdjieff calls it the 'Movement Center'. Hawkins calibrates this at 100 and below. The yoga practise of
asana tames this circuit by holding the bio-survival unit in a still posture, until all anxiety is bleached out through monotony.
Circuit II: Anal Emotional-Territorial The Fool grows up, masters gravity by learning to walk, and learns to become political in the surrounding family. The Father God Archetype is sought after, and traditional potty-training ensues. Consciousness is two-dimensional at this stage, adding the y-axis of Dominance-Submission to the x-axis of Advance-Retreat. Those imprinted heavily at this level grow up to be muscular, controlling, and anger-ridden...most of them end up going into the military. Alcohol is the drug of choice at this level. This is the Freudian Ego. Gurdjieff calls it the 'False Emotional Center' while Hawkins calibrates it to around 150. The yoga practise of
pranayama tames this circuit by relaxing all negative emotions with oxygen, inhaled and exhaled correctly.
Circuit III: Time-Binding Semantic The Fool goes to school, and cultural conditioning ('brainwashing') begins here. The Hierophant Archetype is realized, and one learns language, math, logic, science, etc. Consciousness advances from its early two-dimensions and begins to influence Time through memory. Those imprinted heavily at this level grow up to be bald, bespectacled, and 'nerdy', usually becoming rationalists and scientists. Caffeine and Cocaine are the agents of this circuit. Gurdjieff calls it the 'False Intellectual Center' and Jung calls it the 'Reasoning Child'. The yoga practise of
mantra (or dharana) tames this circuit through repetitive chanting which helps shut up the 'internal monologue' of the rational mind.
Circuit IV: Socio-Sexual Moral The Fool attains puberty. The sexual drive unleashes itself upon the adolescent, who remains in its grasp well into adulthood. Consciousness is imprinted by 'morality' so that untamed sex does not lead to population overdose. Those imprinted heavily at this level grow up to be good-looking, attractive as they love giving out mating signals...most of them marry, have children and undertake 'responsibility'. MDMA (Ecstasy) is the agent of this circuit. This is the Freudian Super-Ego. Gurdjieff calls it the 'False Personality' while Hawkins calibrates it to about 175. The yoga practise of
yama tames this circuit by making one lose all interest in their social and sexual lives (celibacy) - the Crowleyan school found this unacceptable and used Tantra instead.
Circuit V: Sensory Neuro-Somatic This is the first 'advanced' circuit where The Fool enters into the spiritual realm with the aid of The Hermit. Consciousness is introduced to the perceptual delights of the plain naked body. Sex gives way to foreplay. Those imprinted heavily at this level grow up to be charismatic and graceful if not good-looking...a lot of them become artists, musicians, spiritual students. This is also the 'oceanic experience' felt by the self-actualizers in Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. Cannabis is the agent of choice at this circuit. Gurdjieff calls it the 'Magentic Center' while Hawkins calibrates it to about 250. The yoga practise of
niyama teaches one to be spontaneous deliberately, so that the bio-energies deflected upwards from the lower circuits can find appropraite manifestation here.
Circuit VI: Psychic Metaprogramming The Fool opens the Third Eye. Consciousness is introduced to paranormal powers such as clairvoyance, remote-viewing and precognition. The imagination takes over from the will. Those imprinted at this level become psychic mediums, channelers or spiritual teachers. The Pavlina's are at this level. LSD is the agent of choice at this circuit. Gurdjeiff calls it the 'True Emotional Center' while Hawkins calibrates it to about 500. The yoga practise of
dhyana (or 'sustained concentration') allows one to focus the bio-energies inwards so that they illuminate the ajna chakra in between the eyes on the forehead.
Circuit VII: Mythic Neurogenetic The Fool becomes an Avatara. Consciousness is realized at the Spirit level. This is the Realm of the Archetypes...life is lived effortlessly through willed synchronicities. Companionship of the Gods is achieved at this level. Those who take imprint here become Jesus, Buddha, Muhammad, Moses. The Psilocybin Mushroom is the agent of choice for this circuit. Gurdjeiff calls it the 'True Intellectual Center' while Hawkins calibrates it to 600+. Immortality is achieved here. The yoga practise of
samadhi aims to unite the observer with the observed, so that there is no 'seperateness' between mind and matter. Truth is finally revealed.
Circuit VIII: Spiritual Non-Local Quantum The Fool attains The Universe and returns Unto Its Self. This is the realm of God Itself. Power over and beyond space-time is achieved at this level. This is the realm of Krishna...known by others names as God, Lord, Allah, Pan (who are all derivatives of Jehovah, who comes from Yahweh, which stands for
YHVH: the geometrical formula of the Tetragrammaton which puts the four Elements of Nature - fire, water, air, earth - into perfect balance against the corresponding Ether). Salvia Divinorum and Ketamine are the agents of this circuit. Gurdjieff calls it 'The Essence' while Hawkins calibrates it to 700-1000. This is permanent imprinting of samadhi so that the Being enters into a state of nirvana: moksha (or liberation) is attained from samsara (life and death).
