Tim - just following on from your thoughts on phone coaching vs face to face: ie: "Phone coaching can be great for a lot of stuff but when I do interevention work, I need to see the client."

A life coach related an experience which I thought you may find interesting in this area:-
She had a client who had a severe physical disability (all crouched over) which was developed through her childhood years. The coach however didn't know this while phone coaching and only heard this 'powerful individual spirit' wanting to grow and achieve incredible things with her remaing life .(she was 40 at the time). The coach finally met the client and was deeply shocked at her appearance.

The coach commented that they achieved great results (thru phone coaching), and that she (the coach) could not honestly say whether the sight of her client's physical condition at the outset of the relationship, would not have affected her expectations of the client and compromised the efficacy of the work.

Her point was that she couldn't be sure if the physical appearance would have affected the process, and that phone coaching eliminated the possisbility up front.

Just thought it an interesting perspective, not earth shattering, but something to think about.
David.
