I'd invest in the media first - money is power. A newspaper would be good, and perhaps a radio station. Maybe I'd hire staff for some full budget computer games - I've always wanted to make games but I've never had someone do all the graphics.
Secondarily, research. Especially: new forms of energy, transportation, materials, communication and medicine. Then, when one of my companies makes a key discovery, I'll be even richer.
Probably, I'd still keep my day job though, at least for the start, to avoid getting shocked too much. Of course I'll also invest in my life, but that goes without saying.
