Thanks for the information on re-encoding! I never listen to CDs, so I immediately ripped them to MP3. I'll try ripping them to WAV and see if there's any difference. Perhaps that's why I haven't achieved the effect I expected?

I know that Steve said he ripped them all to his iPod; wonder if he could detect a difference?
