I think our angels often speak to us through other people, usually without their knowing it. Perhaps his saying that actually made you subconciously paranoid about riding the scooter and helped cause your accident, which led to your getting back together with your mate.
I assume your collarbone's fine now, and you have a wife you probably wouldn't have had. It's all good.
