Just got back from a walk with my super-sweet lab/boxer mix, Jack. What a great morning! We walk around my block, twice a day. I made that commitment when he was just a few months old, and I'm so glad I did. We're out there in sun, rain, ice... even a short walk does so much to change my mood. I'm so glad to have my sweet doggie.
There is a fig bush - almost a tree! It's huge - along our way, and I've been watching the figs grow and anticipating when they'll be ripe. It's on an abandoned lot, so I feel free to partake! I thought one was ready today, but there was still some resistance when I tried to pick it, so figured I'd leave it for one more day. Jack had different ideas! It was low enough that he could sniff it. He did, then: chomp! He pulled it right off the bush, and sat there, happily munching away, big doggie smile on his face. What a goof.
It was a moment of pure being, just me and my dog and the fig. Then no-fig. Such abundance! A whole tree of figs, right there. A great way to start my day.
