He may be a small, green, muppet-esque fictional character from a popular sci-fi movie, but he's also pretty smart.
I think there is a lot of truth to what you are saying. Force appears to breed resistance. Whenever we conceptualize "trying", it suggests, very subtly, that we are indeed working "against" something, whatever that something may be. I find it helps if I imagine that my intention-manifestations "want" to happen and all I have to do is allow them and they will. Conceptually, this moves the locus of power inwards, and responsibility as well.
And let us not forget what another famous spandex wearing fictional character said, "with great power, comes great responsibility."
