I think so, and I think another part of it is people who are struggling financially are in a place of lack. They really don't believe they can HAVE more, they may want more, but they don't believe it's possible, that they are victims of circumstance. Telling them that not only can they have more, but the fact that they don't have enough is their responsibility, challenges the victim mindset they have. They would rather have the victim mindset. So they lash out at the messenger.
