I guess people see what they expect to see. I never had the sense it was about brainwashing people into becoming even more materialistic. It featured money because that's a big concern for many people, and it was easy to see how the same principles that would attract money would attract health, peace of mind, relationships, a better lifestyle, all that stuff.

Yet I heard plenty of "oh great, just what we need, another product telling people that to be happy all they need is a new sports car. You know, that's the problem with our culture. Everyone thinks money will make you happy but that's just not true". That seems to be a reflection of their own pre-occupation with money and materialism. Especially since out of an entire full length film that had many topics, that's the only aspect they can seem to remember.

Then you start to see people's own issues of guilt and shame regarding money come to the surface. What seems like an attack on materialism is really an affirmation that they do not feel worthy of abundance in their own lives, and if they can't have that feeling of self-love and acceptance, no one else should either.

And just in case you were wondering if they were just bitter, no in fact they are doing you a service, after all, if the LOA were REAL, then the secret would be free, and all the people that were involved in making that movie shouldn't have been paid for it, just being a part of it should have manifested lottery wins for all involved in the production.

So now my bitterness and self-hatred and belief that life should not be easy like this has manifested as me looking out for your welfare and not feeding these charlatans any more money.
