I've seen guides express a kind of frustration with their charges. But I've never encountered a guide that was angry. I've seen compassion but I wouldn't say sadness. And frustration but not disappointment.
Guides are always trying to help you. Just because you can't hear, see or detect their presence doesn't mean they aren't there.
Asking for help is useful and so is sending a little gratitude their way occasionally. Even if you aren't sure they're receiving it (they are though) you can send a little love and gratitude their way.
