Everyone is skeptical about Twitter at first. It's typical to be skeptical of new technologies, for the same reason people get skeptical when you do
anything new.
And while it can be indulgent, that really depends on the user.
I love Twitter's organizing potential. I can just say "Hey, I'm at place x, do you want to join me, and make a mini-conference?"
