Why do we think we need to use soap? Hmm...conditioning, really. We're told that our natural scents aren't so nice. Also, we like the smell.
What do you think soap does (in your own words)? It's a base, so it's slippery, mixes with water, and serves to loosen particles and things on the body by helping them pretty much slip away. That's just a guess. Oh, and it makes you smell pretty. Or, prettier.
Also, if a soap is moisturizing, or contains healing ingredients like colloidal oatmeal, it can be very soothing to skin irritations. Personally, I don't want to be ashy (I'm Black), so a good, rich soap combined with lotion keeps me brown instead of, well, dusty looking.
Does not using soap make you smell worse, or better? Depends on your definition of better. I'm sorry, some people are just funky. That's a by-product of what they eat. So, soap helps them. However, some people just have a natually nice scent, so soap would do nothing, I guess. |
