I personally view people as having a true core that is hidden somewhere. Their actions and attitudes may easily be a part of a mask. I prefer to take people as they are. This means if one week they are a real jerk then the next week they start working on it then I don't tie them to the chains of their past. I appologize for not having a good way of putting this.
I suppose alot of it ties into me being freed from my own past. Who I am today is who I was yesterday and is the same person that I was growing up. Yet my actions are more in line with that core and I work to make my actions grow towards that core self. Any mistakes I make are simply a reflection of my maturity.
So If I want others to treat me by a new standard (even weekly would be good) then I can't go around holding people back with what I think of them now can I? Also mistakes are mistakes they don't define a person. If someone steals does that make him a thief? In the eyes of the world yes. Yet to me that label does that person an injustice. I'm not talking about consequences for actions mind you. When you screw up there are consequences. However I don't have to hold you having stolen against you when you've proven to me that you are working on it.
I prefer to see people growing towards their greatest potential and I like encouraging others to find it.
