there is no way to trust him because he is not trustworthy or willing to change. People make mistakes and slip up and realize what they have done and change it permanently. The ones that don't aren't going to change and you are no helping this by rewarding his bad behavior by staying with him.
The only way you could trust him now is by lying to yourself hardcore which is very difficult to do.
