Closed doesn't mean it's superior neither. There is so much closed "crap", and even worse, nothing can be done about it.

Sure something can be done. Don't buy it. Simplicity. Going on a crusade against the iPhone isn't going to get anyone anywhere. All you can do is do things the way you feel is right.
Again, like I said, the problem is that the FOSS folks WANT the iPhone, but want it in a fashion that isn't going to happen.
