YES! I finally hit a milestone in my Personal Development Blogging career today. I actually beat Steve to a post by about 2 months and 14 days. Woot!
I pretty much wrote a post about this exact idea on my blog a few months ago. (
How to Make Money Doing What You Love - Your First Dollar | How to Make Money Doing What You Love )
You have no idea how many times I've had an idea for a post, and then I'd write it down in my journal and flesh it out a bit, getting ready to write it only to find Steve write the exact idea on his Blog the next day and beat me to it. It's like "doh!", he beat me to it.
It's so cool for me to read Steve's post because I know he didn't read mine before writing his, yet when I read both of them side by side, I totally see the same "channel" being tuned in and interpreted slightly differently by our different personalities.
ie. Here's a quote from mine:
Quote:
|
Do you love writing? Write a one-page report on something and sell it for a dollar to someone you know. Or sell it for 25 cents to 4 people, or a dime to 10.
|
Here's a quote from Steve's:
Quote:
|
Write a poem, an article, or a song. Share it with as many people as you can, and ask if they’ll pay you a quarter for the value they received from it. Get four people to say yes, and you’ve earned your dollar. If no one agrees to pay you, ask them what you could create that would be worth at least a quarter to them.
|
Here's a quote from my article:
Quote:
If you’re not making money by doing what you love, why not?
Are you waiting until you have figured out the perfect plan to be able to quit your job and do what you love before you start?
If so, let me offer a suggestion for a goal you may want to set for yourself. It may be one of the most important goals you will EVER go after in your life. Are you ready?
Your goal is to find a way to make $1 by doing what you love.
|
And from Steve's:
Quote:
They won’t consider it unless they’re convinced such work will bring in some serious money… more than enough to cover all their expenses. A few dollars is just too trivial and pointless.
That mindset is a huge, huge mistake.
If you want to make a living (a great living), doing work you truly love, then a necessary first step is to earn that first dollar.

Sorry, I'm just excited... finally found that channel Steve's been listening to.
