This is a great technique that works wonderfully. In fact, I just had a dream last night (non-lucid) where I was easily passing through the environment, exactly how I was the night before in a video game (Half-Life 2).

This happens for lots of things you do in real life. A funny example is that my friend is a camera man. He wears headphones, and takes cues from some other guy. In his dreams, he can command, "Pan left" and the dream will slowly pan left as if he were controlling the dream camera.
