Fantastic! I know how the remember-the-order-of-the-word game works, don't know about the other ones. I got it from Derren Brown's book. It basically goes like this: he says the words and you form pictures of them in your mind. So when he goes from dragon to book the girl would imagine a book made of dragons or whatever silly picture will help her to remember. Then she will remember the next word (car) because she imagines a book car. And a car river. And a river cow. Never seen one?
That's the trick, but these kids seem to remember and make mental images really fast. Although we don't often need to memorize list like these, the underlying idea of creating bizarre images in your mind will help you in other situations. I still remember part of the list in Derren's book which I memorized over one year ago, which took me only 5 minutes. So anyone can do this.
