I'd have to go back and rewatch the movies--it's been several months since I watched them--to point out anything specific. But I DO remember that a lot of what they were saying sounded like pure speculation, with sketchy "evidence" at best to support their claims.
Let me put it this way: If YOU were one of the wealthiest people on the planet, in control of all sorts of real estate and political influence and whatnot, would YOU use your extended powers solely for your own ends in an attempt to keep billions of other people under your thumb, or would you try to be more magnanimous and generous and just plain more human? If I were rich, with hundreds of millions of dollars at my disposal, do you think I'd be spending all my energy on cover-ups to gain more power, or do you think I'd just be out doing recreational activities with people I love and care about?
