If you can go to those colleges for free, why not?
I think you should consider the state college even if you "hate" the state you're in. I would say you should consider a prestigious private college like an Ivy (or a "regular" private college you desperately want to go to) if you plan to end your education at the undergraduate-level only. It doesn't matter greatly what undergraduate college you went to if you plan on going to graduate school.
