Insightful article. I think you're quick to dismiss the role genes can have. A good example: I have a friend who has absolutely perfect skin. She's had a total of 3 pimples that I've ever noticed. Her diet consists of fast food, large amounts of highly processed sugars, huge amounts of red meat and cheese, and the occasional vegetable thrown in for flavor or bits of fruit to flavor ice cream. Yet somehow she has perfect skin and a tiny waist...
Another friend in that group is a raw foods vegan who still has issues with acne and can't lose a pound to save her life.
Diet and environment are important, but they can't be the whole picture. |
