There is a twofold meaning of the Lyrics of this song.
1 The sci-fi stuff is just metaphoric to describe something great. Venus is the goddess of Love. Maybe we'll comeback to earth could mean: Who knows if this love lasts forever.
2. The song was about the Challenger blowing up in 1986, hence the space theme and it being "The Final Countdown."
Anyway this song is fantastic.
