I think going to the extreme also and eating only the foods that are "100% great for you" and nothing else is a little too much also.
If you eating lots of fruits and veggies, mostly whole wheat stuff and a small to no quantity of lean meat/fish then you should be good. Whether you have white rice/pasta once in a while or go out for that steak on your friends birthday, for the most part you should be good.
I believe it's about what you constantly choose to eat instead of occasionally.
