Hi Erin,
Great to see you this weekend and also great that you shared your experience. I enjoyed reading your blog entry (as always!)
I had an awesome experience, too. On the full pre-workshop day, I was in Colette's workshop about developing psychic ability. During the morning, she led us through a series of exercises designed to get us to open our hearts, and then in the afternoon we paired up with a partner that we had to do readings on.
The first thing my partner said was "Your favorite color is pink." Doh! "No," I said sadly. She tried again. "You're a preschool teacher." "No..." She got really upset and I could see a great deal of sadness in her eyes. "I'm just not psychic," she said. "I've never been good at this."
I sensed there was something I was supposed to help her with. I did read her accurately. I correctly identified her favorite color (turquoise -- it was glowing on her shirt as soon as I tuned in.) Then I asked her to hand me an item she owned, and (while only knowing her name), I was able to see that she received this bracelet at a wedding (that wasn't her wedding) as a gift. She was surprised and said that was completely accurate.
I also said she had a son who had some sort of chest congestion when he was very young. She said yes, she had a son who had chronic asthma (and some sort of long medical term!) when he was a child, but that he was fine now. She then said she had another son who had some emotional problems, and I could tell I could help her figure out what was wrong, but we didn't get a chance, as the reading was over.
My guides poked me during the next set when Colette was speaking and asked me to ask the woman who was sitting to her left some questions. We were all kind of crammed in there, and my intuitive feeling was that my partner was actually reading the woman to her left instead of me. So I tapped that woman on the shoulder, gestured for my partner to listen, and asked her "What is your occupation?" She said, "I was a teacher." (She is retired now.) My partner about fell off her chair, and said, "A preschool teacher?" The woman looked surprised and said, "Yes, I taught preschool. How did you know? ... I don't think I look like a preschool teacher."
At that point, Colette opened it up for questions, so I raised my hand and explained what had just happened, word for word, and ended up with "My partner is psychic!" This was a breakthrough moment for that woman. Her eyes were shiny and she looked so happy that she had been validated. Colette remembered that my partner was partially deaf, and asked her in which ear she was deaf. She responded that she was deaf in her left ear, and Colette went into an explanation of how that would probably affect her and that if she wanted to give readings, she would need to be aware of that.
This was the best moment of the whole weekend for me. Not only did I get to do some readings (I have an intuitive gift, but my guides have asked me to focus on writing instead of doing readings), but the best part was I got "used" by Spirit to show a woman that she had a true gift.
I believe Colette when she says that everyone is psychic. But it was really a huge moment to see someone finally realize it was okay to open up in that way. What an amazing day. I will treasure the memory.
