Well animals bigger/stronger than us did kill us when they could, and still do nowadays sometimes when they can. Fortunately we are superior (in terms of power) to all animals now, but it's just nature, they used to kill us when we weren't at the top of the food chain. So your logic doesn't really make sense.

As for killing animals just for the sake of it, i think it's wrong. But i consider "to have fun" or "to make experiments" or "to not see these annoying crawling/flying things on my floor/house anymore" enough reason to kill bugs/animals. Preferably make them suffer as little as possible, though. But if "having fun" means making them suffer, it's reprehensible but i don't think it should be considered a crime punishable by law (unless the animal killed was someone else's pet).
