This is some great advice. Another thing, if it is a hardcopy make sure you keep it in a safe and secure place with a lock. My girlfriend found my journal the other day and it was not a pretty sight. Luckily most of the stuff I had coded. In addition, please make sure not to spell out full names of people and places, initial backwards if you must. I know some people will recommend using journal software, but i feel more involve when i'm actually writing.
