The first time I heard a guide talk to me was when I received a "shout" to turn off of the road while I was driving on the highway at 80 mph. It was a little disturbing since I was concentrating on driving fast, but there are probably worse moments when people received spiritual guidance that haven't been documented.
To answer a previous question, the only time I get aural answers is when I'm under hypnosis. I tend to connect really easily to my guides when my conscious mind is out of the way given the last couple of sessions. When I'm present it's usually kinesthetic with perhaps some visual. Any guidance is rarely in audio for me.
