That's probably because your editor is putting out some horrible HTML! You aren't using FrontPage, are you? I would consider switching to one that helps you build websites that don't break down in other browsers (say, Safari on OS X; you're menu looks seriously screwed up here). It will also help if your editor knows how to use stylesheets properly (which will save you a ton of bandwidth).
