Music and heart rate
Last semester, I did an experiment for my science class on the effects of music on heart rate and blood pressure. My results were not completely conclusive, but there was a definite pattern consistent with the tempo of the music. It seemed that faster tempo music usually increased heart rate. There was a random observation though of heavy metal actually decreasing heart rate. Not sure why, but it did on every person I tested. Slower tempo music decreases heart rate.
My intuitive position on the results is that fast tempo music generally spends energy where slower tempo music generally saves it.
