Oops, there was a misunderstanding here.
I found out that I constantly mixed up two different terms (happiness and bliss) in these forums, because in Dutch we use the same word ("geluk") for "happiness", "bliss", "fortune", "luck", "blessing" and "chance" (the context determines the meaning of that word)...
While happiness is a temporary feeling that comes and goes, bliss is a permanent state of happiness, that can only be achieved when you have found the meaning of your life.
When you're in a state of bliss, you cannot be unhappy anymore, so happiness is your ultimate goal.
To reach that goal, you must first find the meaning of your life.
So, Paul, you are right.
To find the meaning of your life, focus only on your own life, your own experiences, because you have only one certainty to start with: you know that you exist, while you never can now that other people exist on the same level as you.
First try to find an explanation for YOUR existence, and then you'll see that you have automatically an explanation for the existence of all mankind.
You cannot neglect subjective reality if you want to succeed.
