I don't really subscribe to either strategy because in some areas of my life I exert some control, but I think I am mostly leaning towards the faith approach and I use intuitive feelings for the most part.
Although I've been working on my life more now than ever and setting goals for myself so that is kind of what happens when you have high end goals!
