These experiences are referred to as hypnogogic (sp?) hallucinations. They are reported frequently. They happen during sleep paralysis, usually in the morning. You hear people in your house, in your room, on your bed. You can even feel someone on the bed with you moving around. You would swear they are really there but when you finally break free of the paralysis, they disappear and there is no evidence that they were ever there.
