Sounds like you've witnessed some pretty crappy readings... which is really no surprise considering your expectations. That's the kind of thing you'll often get from the cheapo psychics like you'd find at a New Age bookstore... or the expensive scammers... or the talk show drama.
I hope you didn't waste too much money on that.
