I don't think that 19th century imperialism was driven by capitalistic ideals.
Bringing those people Christianity and getting power were more important goals.

Why do you think so? Why are cities less democratic than nations? (there are a few futurists who see the cities rising in importance and power)
Shouldn't there be strong supranational government bodies with great power?
If a single nation can't keep a corporation in check what speaks about banding to gather like the European Union to be stronger in the face of corporation or NGO's?
