The concept of hell exists in the nt, because the translators put it there. They even borrowed concepts from the ot, and changed the meaning of the words to make them fit. How quaint of them.
btw, the greek word 'hades' is just the translation of the hebrew word 'sheol'. It doesn't mean 'hell' any more than sheol does.
