Erin gave me a good tip on astral projections: try to project yourself well away from your body, because the closer you are, the more you want to go back in it.

I tried it last night, but I messed up! I was lying on my back, waiting for sleep to come. I was paying so much attention to my body, that I could specifically feel the changes that were about to happen that would lead to SP:

* the small muscles in my body started to involuntarily relax (like the jaw of my mouth opening, etc)
* I coulf feel the circulation in my hands being reduced.
* I still felt completely awake, and my heart rate was still pretty high, which are tell-tale signs that you're about to go into SP.

Within seconds of getting my chance, I felt that my right hand, which was behind my neck to help support my head on the pillow, was getting it's circulation cut off and it was uncomfortable. Since the last thing you want to do is become paralyzed in an uncomfortable position, I reflexively moved my arm to the side of my body. Whoops, that snapped me right out of it. Feeling more comfortable, I patiently awaited for it to happen again. But instead, half an hour later, I got sleepy and just fell into a normal sleep on my back.

I'll try it again tonight. If it doesn't work again, then I just won't update until it does.
