I want to share with you another of V's stories.

V had a close friend (let's call the friend X) who worked in a bank. Let's just say that the bank is one of the world's biggest banks. The friend held quite a senior position in the bank.

The friend had a bit of a midlife crisis. She started wondering about the meaning of life etc etc. She felt that her job in the bank was really, really not what she wanted to do with her life.

V asked, "Well, what do you want to do with your life?"

X said that she wanted to do meaningful things to help people. Social work; volunteer work; help the poor; save the environment. That kind of thing.

V said, "Well, if that is what you want to do, why don't you get a job in some charitable organisation?'

X had a lot of difficulty with that. Basically she had no relevant experience for the kind of thing that she wanted to do, therefore she didn't see how she could get a job that paid well. (Bear in mind she was working in a senior position in a bank, and already earning a lot). The money was still very important to her - she was not prepared to forsake that.

X did proceed to try looking for jobs in charitable organisations, but as she feared, she could not find any suitable jobs.

At this point, V decided to tell her friend about the LOA (or rather, Shakti Gawain's creative visualisation methods). V said, "If you cannot find your dream job, then you will just have to create it from scratch."

X said, "What do you mean?"

V told her about the visualisation stuff.

X thought V was crazy.

V said, "Yes of course, but no harm trying, right?"

X gave it a shot. Within one month, a new kind of job was created within her bank. The job was advertised internally. It was something like "Global Head of Corporate Social Responsibility".

For those of you who don't know what CSR is, well, you can google. Nowadays, basically many MNCs now have some form of CSR programme, but in those days, it was quite rare. CSR means all those activities whereby the MNC organises, towards worthy social causes. For example, they may support AIDS awareness; or organise fundraising activities for the victims of natural disasters; or support specific charities, and so on.

(It's not done purely for altruistic reasons, but partly for PR reasons. It's also for gaining goodwill from government bodies, when you start doing new business in different countries).

ANYWAY, the thing is, X's bank suddenly decided that instead of doing CSR activities on an ad-hoc basis in different countries, they needed a Global Head of CSR, who would build a team over time and systematically coordinate the bank's CSR efforts around the world.

X went for the interview. She had no experience, but she got the job. She was internally transferred. There was no pay cut.

Last I heard, she was still Global Head of CSR.

So you see, using creative visualisation, she created her dream job from scratch. In fact, because her bank is so huge (it operates in probably 70+ countries around the world), she's now in charge of the bank's charitable efforts literally all around this planet.
