Anyway, as I said, my wife occupies Position No. 4 (broadly speaking, because there's some flatness in the structure).

Now, most recently (one week ago), it was announced that by the end of 2008, the CEO & Managing Director of the company would be leaving (he would be transferred to a new role in the parent company in another country).

The current Deputy CEO would take over as CEO. There are no plans to hire a replacement Deputy CEO.

So effectively my wife will move into Position No. 3.

Now the Deputy CEO is quite old. In fact, he had been making plans for retirement. Now that he's going to become CEO, he's put his retirement plans on hold. However, he IS quite old and who knows, it's quite conceivable, he'll retire, say, in another 2 years.

Assuming that nothing else changes, that would place my wife in No. 2 spot. Which is REALLY quite remarkable for a person working only three days a week, and often from home, and who would be only 36 years old by then.
