The thing that worked for me was getting a cookbook. (the one I grabbed was 4 ingredient recipes). I then picked a week of chicken recipes (because that was on sale at the time). I cooked a week of chicken recipes, and tore each one out of the cookbook. If we liked it, I put it in a keep pile. If we didn't, I literally threw it out. Then I did the same with pork, ground beef, back to chicken, etc. Still working on this process, and I have a cache of about 30 things that are fast/easy, and my family likes. The end goal is to look at the sales fliers on monday night (from the sunday paper), do the coupon thing, and plan the meals (tue -> mon) based on what's on sale... then send my wife shopping on Tuesday, and have the theme for the week.
