Interesting twist on plain old channelling .... Instead of simply communicating with the entity, you will tap into specific parts of its consciousness possessing skills and abilities in which you're interested.
But yes, time should be irrelevant. We can draw examples from past-life regression hypnosis and even future-life progress hypnosis.
