Of course you can learn how to meditate for free.
In TM they talk about specially selected mantras etc. Are all mantras equally effective? I really don't know. All I know is that TM is the most scientifically researched meditation technique in the world.

But it is pretty expensive, I admit that. And I'm not trying to convince anyone. TM works for me. Go with whatever works for you. If you're looking for something free, tried and tested, you can never go wrong with "AUM". The King of Mantras
